How To Lose Belly Fat

We all want to know the answer to the question how to lose belly fat. Well, like most things in life, it can be done, but only with the proper preparation and by following and sticking to a plan.

The simple fact of life is if you intake more calories than you burn then the excess is stored as fat in the body. It is stored on the belly area as this is the easiest place for the body to put it (this is also the key to loosing it which I will explain later.)

Considering this there are options:

1. Consume fewer calories
2. Burn more calories than you consume

The first you can do by dieting, the second by exercising. Or ideally, you can achieve your goals by a combination of the two. The key to losing the belly fat is to burn it off. Both of the methods will do it. But the most important point is keeping it off.

How can I lose stomach fat?

How is it then that so many people fail at this if it's so simple. Well, the answer lies in how fast you intend to lose the belly fat. It is not unrealistic to lose 10lbs in a week. What is wrong with that? If you lose weight quickly, you not only lose fat but you also lose learn muscle tissue and you also lose organ mass. Add to this that it increases you metabolism, then you get a healthy appetite the I am sure you will see where this is heading.

Basically the body rallies against the sudden changes forced upon it and tries to put the weight back on. Not good. You can lose lots of weight quiclky but be prepared for the health problems that are associated with this and be prepared to see it come back with a vengence once you stop the diet.

For this reason, it is a much better approach to go for a gradual loss of fat as this will protect your body and you health. It will also mean your body gradually accepts the change in diet and accommodates it rather than treating it like a red alert. The body is a complex thing and only does what it feels is necessary to protect itself.

Losing fat fast is relative

If you go for a steady reduction in weight then the body will go to the most easily available reserve energy resource it has - yes, you guessed it, the belly. The reason it is the easiest place to put the extra fat is because it's the easiest place to access it when it is needed. And as the body has got used to the changes, when you alter you diet a bit it won't react.

And think about it. A couple of pounds a week might not seem like a lot but it equates to 100 pounds in a year.

Of course you can't eat ice-cream all day and the best way to achieve these results is with some exercise thrown in. But the point is you don't have to become an Olympic athlete to lose belly fat.
